What we are :

Karunya Trust is a Multi Religious Non-Governmental Organization, working in various slum pockets of Mumbai & its Suburbs and in the villages of Maharashtra. It stands for the noble ideals of the development of the society, as children its central point. The trust caters to the needs of the poor irrespective of cast, creed and religion. The main interventions are in the areas of education, health, community development, income generation, women empowerment, HIV/AIDS awareness and care & support to PLHAs.

There shall be a Board of Trustees known as the Managing Committee under the Chairperson. The number of Trustees shall not be less than three and not more than nine including the Chairperson who shall preside at all meetings of the Board. In the absence of the Chairperson in a meeting , the Trustees who may be present at the meeting shall elect a Chairperson for the meeting the Bishop of Kalyan, the Vicar General, the Chancellor , the Finance officer and the Director of Social work all of the diocese of Kalyan shall be Ex-Officio members of the Board of Trustees and the Chairperson shall be the person holding the office of the Bishop of the Diocese of Kalyan. There shall be other members representing different religions. These people will be nominated to the board by the Chairperson. The term of the Trustees other than Ex-Officio Trustees will for three years. After the expiry of this term, their vacancies shall be filled up by the Chairperson by nomination.

How we are:

The board with the Chairperson and Trustees follows with the Central Committee and Managing Committee. The Managing Committee includes the Director and Staffs. There will be a Chairperson for every Nodal unit. The Karunya Trust Committee will be representing from the different association of the Parishes. The members from other religions will be nominated by Chairperson. There will be staff under the Managing Committee. The Nodal Committee will be responsible in taking the different activities and issues with the direction from the Central committee. Nodal units are free to raise and utilize the funds for various purposes according to the needs.

We are collaborating with the like minded Non Governmental Organization to do various activities like resource mobilization, capacity building etc. We are coordinating with medical colleges and other hospitals to organize medical camps in slums and rural areas.

Karunya Trust also collaborates with Govt. agencies for Technical support and Training programmes to take up various issues that affect people.
