Karunya Trust is a Multi Religious Non Governmental organisation, registered under Bombay public Trust Act 1950 formed in May 1998 and it was inaugurated by the then Governor Dr. P.C. Alexander. It stands for the noble ideals of the development of the society, as children its central point. It aims at providing a safety net to thousands of street children. Thousands of children are deprived of basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter. They are denied proper education, health facilities and developmental opportunities. A child should not be denied the requisite personality development opportunities just because of the accident of birth or circumstances. The trust caters to the needs of children irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The major thrust is to develop new programs to achieve the over-all development of children by providing educational, vocational and health facilities. A child cannot be developed in an isolated situation. Integrated development of the child can be achieved through the empowerment of the family and the community in which he/she lives. The trust devotes its efforts to the financial development of the family through Women Empowerment, vocational and income generation programmes.
